Executive Director

Apple Arts NYC


Apple Arts NYC is seeking an interim Executive Director for a 6-month position at 30 hours/week, with opportunity to become full time. Individual must be a dynamic, independent, innovative and experienced leader who has a genuine passion for Apple Arts’ mission, and reflects optimism, persistence, creativity and collaboration.


Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will provide overall strategic leadership, executive oversight and direction in support of the operations of Apple Arts NYC providing creative arts programming to children living in homeless shelters in New York City. 


Responsibilities:

Operations

Provide executive leadership and oversight over all operations of the organization including programming, fundraising, board development, and administration.

Ensure realization and perpetuation of institution’s philosophy and mission.

Maintain a climate that attracts, keeps and motivates top quality professional and volunteer team members.

Serve as the chief spokesperson for the institution, ensuring that the institution is properly presented to its constituents, donors and sponsors, and the wider community.

Design and implement short term operating goals and long-range strategies.


Programming

Supervise and support program and programming staff, monitoring on-going program evaluation and ensuring allocation of program resources required for effective implementation.

Serve as liaison between staff and board of directors.

Establish and maintain positive and productive relationships with program sites’ leadership.


Fundraising

With board of directors, develop and implement fundraising strategies that will provide the resources necessary for the achievement of the Apple Arts mission.

Cultivate and solicit individual and other private donors; maintain active relationships with current donors.

Actively seek grants, sponsorships, events and other funding opportunities.

With the board of directors, play leadership role in planning and execution of fundraising events.

Maintain donor database, tracking donations and communications.


Administration

With Treasurer, manage organization financial activities including budget development and tracking, creation of income and expense reports, review and monitoring of bi-monthly financial statements, banking statements, and ongoing monitoring of fiscal health.

Collect monthly reports, expense reports and other documentation from program staff.

Serve as point person for all communications for organization.




Qualifications:

Commitment to the mission, purpose and values of Apple Arts with the desire to be part of the team that impacts the organization's future.


Superior leadership, team building and operations skills. A well-established and proven track record of progressively responsible management experience in the non-profit field.


Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; public speaking and media relationships experience a plus.


Ability to cultivate relationships with diverse stakeholders and soliciting funds from diverse sources, including individuals, government agencies, foundations and businesses.


Ability to motivate staff and board of directors, and assure accountability for quality service delivery and the successful financial performance of the organization

Strong command of technology, social media, computer and database programs.


An advanced degree, or undergraduate degree and 5-7 years’ relevant experience in Education, Arts Administration, Non-Profit or Business Administration. Experience with youth development programs or working with youth in low-income settings is a plus.
